as i no longer sleep (apparently), let’s do this awesome thing @yodas-yo-yo tagged me on!! thank you!!
Rules: Tag 9 people who you want to know better/catch up with and then answer these questions.
3 SHIPS
i’m going with not necessarily my all-time favorite ships but the ones i’ve been reading like crazy lately
stiles and derek, as i’m sure we’re all well aware. those’re my boys. the dynamic they have just cannot be beat; it’s all shades of gray and built rather than plopped down without foundation. derek, who has been betrayed and abandoned and is neglected at every turn by every other character in this universe, and stiles, who - importantly - doesn’t have pity for him but pragmatism: ‘you’re a useful dude, and so i am going to use you regardless of how everyone else would just like to write you off.’ it’s not an immediate, ‘ah, you’re perfect for each other,’ moment, it’s kind of a, ‘shit, dude, that is not a guy you should use because he’s suffered that too many times already and this is bad.’ but only through that does it become less about using derek and more about relying on each other, trusting each other’s judgments, and being the first call rather than the last. i’m so emotionally tied to it because it’s freaking earned and no one is... pure. stiles’ motives aren’t pure, derek’s actions aren’t pure, no one is a one-dimensional hero who can abide by a concept as infantile as good vs evil, they’re more real because of it and i’m more attached to them because of it.
okay, weirdly, lately..... clark and lex (and after i was just talking about one-dimensional good vs evil characters, lol), preferably with the smallville backstory of once being besties. it’s just like the best of the best when it comes to tropes that do it for me. they’re baked in and, unless it’s an au, unavoidable. epic pining, best friends turned enemies turned lovers (or some variation thereof), a betrayed character (love when that’s lex and it’s post-belle reve), a morally gray manipulative genius who if they are depicted as not having ulterior motives is considered WILDLY out of character, a fucking canonical son made from both their dna, parallel universes in canon, not to mention there’s sex pollen in canon as well with red kryptonite in the mix. (there’s nothing better than fics where clark is dosed so he’ll finally kill lex luthor only to fuck him practically down to his soul instead.) i never even finished smallville and while i was always a fan of the ship, it was sort of more of a ‘ships in the night’ kind of ship, like: oh yeah, i know you *waves as you cross my dash* and nothing more. then i read (and read and re-read and read some more) reconcilable differences and.... there is not enough fic for them out there, friends. there just isn’t, and i’m sad.
merlin and arthur from bbc merlin. again, i really like what’s often baked into this pairing: a scenario that comes up with some regularity is a betrayed or banished!merlin and arthur realizing too late what merlin means to him and having to go after him and prove himself. i live for that shit, okay? i live for the character who seemingly has everything realizing they have nothing without this other person (especially if said person is often mistreated or sidelined in canon - thank you, fix-it fanon!!!!). i never was big into merlin fanfic UNTIL ao3 came up with the ‘exclude’ part of the search function. i don’t want modern merlin pretty much ever and somehow that fandom is about 50% modern aus???? so i never read fic for it because it was so hard to find what i was looking for. literally the day i saw the exclude option, i started reading merthur fanfic. i wish there were more percival/merlin fics (i am SO FUCKING INTO size difference lately and i do noooot have a pair that i LOVE that has that, some that i casually read like jaskier/geralt but none that i can’t live without yet and i NEED IT), especially ones featuring a jealous arthur that endgames into merthur but that’s, er, a bit specific? haha, and i have less than zero desire to write for either this fandom or the one above it sadly.
LAST SONG I LISTENED TO
clairo - sofia, i love how hard my radio station is fangirling over clairo, she has such a nostalgia-inducing sound for me.
CURRENTLY WATCHING
okay, well, i actually just finished the shows i was watching: prodigal son, which was like a less avant garde, less horny, less gay, less people-eating version of hannibal. instead of a guy who was too unstable to qualify to be an actual fbi agent and who has a loose relationship with reality and mental health, and maybe also a darker side, and a cannibal who definitely does, both of whom badly want to bang each other, it’s a serial killer father who has a darker side and a guy who was fired from the fbi for being too unstable, who maybe has one of his own, in addition to a loose relationship with reality and mental health. i mostly enjoyed it. i really liked the actors, the morbid and understated humor was hilarious (seriously, some of those one liners, both the delivery by the actors and the offhandedness inherent to them were just perfection), but.... they fridged the love interest (very VERY predictably) and they’re clearly shoving together the only unattached (”normal”) vagina and penis on the show because HETERONORMATIVITY!!!!! (i expect more of you, greg berlanti, tsk.) i’m hoping for more edrisa in the future because she is a fucking GEM (and it’s just SO NICE to see lane on my screen again!!!!), more jessica who might have the best sense of self and humor in the whole dang show, more michael sheen (because i just love the man in anything and everything), and about that finale (even though i saw it coming WELL in advance) i’ll just say: AINSLEY, MY GIRLLLLLLLL!!!!
the other i finished was the crown, season four. this show never really wows me tbh. i watch it mostly for a) the performances and b) my mom and dad, who love it immensely and love to talk about it with me. if not for them i could easily zone out for an entire episode without even realizing it, with all the quietness and sweeping landscape shots, there’s just nothing grabby in there for me. it’s very uppercrust british, y’know? haha. where a comment about your lilac drapes is really a dig about how you’re bringing down the entire commonwealth, which i love to read but watching? it doesn’t really pull me in. the high point of this season for me was gillian anderson’s portrayal of margaret thatcher, just the way she would contort her face was amazing to me, and the episode with fagan because hey, i totally knew about that already (which never happens, lol) and i love that actor from preacher and it was just really well-written and acted. but, overall, pretty much i spent the whole season wanting a violent and bloody and embarrassing death to befall charles, that entitled and cruel little piss-ant, while knowing it wasn’t going to happen. it’s one of those shows i watch where i’m glad i watched it, but i won’t remember any details about it in a week’s time.
and as for what i soon will be currently watching: i’m starting the great tomorrow!
okay, tagging: @livthelion, @ohlookagaydraco, @grimmypuff, @clotpolesonly, @midnightisquiet, @urban-barbarian, @callunavulgari, @hrast-ika and @i-sveikata!!

SPOILERS!!
A few impressions:
Charles & Diana were boring. They didn’t even show the wedding. Episode 9 promised nudity and sex. Unless I fell asleep, there was neither. I really could’ve used at least some sex between some people. Apparently William and Harry just magically appeared. Hewitt had a few seconds of screen time. Well, there was lots of puking. Whatever rocks your boat, I suppose. I think that if you warn about bulimia before each episode, you sure as fuck should warn about people being murdered too. To escape looking like a nutter. That is to say, don’t warn about either. It’s patronising.
The restaurant where Camilla met Diana was called Ménage à Trois. Seriously? Wishful thinking. I enjoyed Charles/Camilla’s bear/hunter joke. Couldn’t we have had more of those two happily together instead of endless misery? Likewise, Diana and her lovers. They quite managed to make it look like nobody/everybody was guilty of the mismatch. Very diplomatic. Worst scene was that talk they had before a brief time of happiness in Australia. Both calling each other gorgeous etc. Bad writing.
I thought the quality between episodes was pretty even. 8 was my favourite. It concentrated on Elizabeth and Margaret having a bit of a pissing contest. Took me time to get used to Gillian Anderson’s throaty posing. By 8 I was at ease with it. Loved Denis and Philip throughout. Well, they were written likeable. The Princess Margaret episode was unnecessary. I suppose when you have HBC in the show, there has to be something for her, so we got a repeat from the last time. Please sis, give me duties. *yawn* I liked that man friend of hers, Dazzle or something. Couldn’t they have developed that angle?
Tom Brooke had his own episode as Michael Fagan. Interesting idea to make an episode about a man who managed to have a private chat with the Queen in her bedroom. I suppose it was to show a desperate person during Thatcherism. Well, at least it was different from the rest of the series. Broke the monotony. Though not the misery. Brave of them to concentrate on a not very privileged white man. Don’t you get cancelled for that sort of thing these days?
Where was the glamour? The sparkling? Tiaras? Even the bloody lighting was almost always murky when indoors, pale or gray outdoors. No weddings, a couple of glimpses of two funerals, a bit of Diana in evening gowns and not much else. Budget problems? The Falklands War happened in the background, even though Andrew was supposed to be there. Well, he got that eyeroll-inducing babble about Koo playing a *gasp* 17-year-old instead. Maybe I should watch The Awakening of Emily since it was advertised. Not that I needed any wars. Or any more issue episodes. Thankfully, ep8 wasn’t about apartheid as I first thought. Would probably have totally confused the wokelings. As I understand it, some of them are all for separation these days.
Combining traditional dancing by maori people with Diana’s puking was a tad odd choice, though. Let’s see who gets offended by what first... Speaking of dancing, for some reason they showed Diana doing it in the palace. Whatever for? Charles suffering through her public dancing and singing was sort of comical. And Gran tying Diana’s hands to stop her from waving them about is an idea certain royals could still use when practicing speech making. They could’ve shown more of her tutoring too.
I got the impression that Olivia Colman was less of a sourface than in s3. Good. But it does get a bit repetitive when the Queen makes the same mistakes over and over again with her children for example or supposedly doesn’t understand how not everybody enjoys, say, hunting.

Nickname: Twig
Sign: Pisces. Also in the Chinese zodiac I was born in the year of the monkey.
Height: 5″6 last I checked I think? BETTER not get any taller than that.
Last thing I searched (I use Ecosia, not Google): “you know my name minecraft”
Amount of sleep: Well, it’s summer now, so I can go to bed as late as I want and wake up as late as I want. So about eight hours these days.
Dream job: I don’t fantasize about labor.
Wearing: Pajama shirt with aquamarine elbow-length sleeves and a black main part with a unicorn on the front and the words “I believe...”. Light gray pajama pants with the faces of Trolls characters (well, just Poppy and Branch and DJ Suki) all over them. Green socks with owls on them that’ve had holes in the soles sewn up but are still gaining new holes.
Media that summarizes me: Okay strap in for a second.
Books - The Lost Track of Time by Britt Page, the Fairyland series by Catherynne M. Valente, the Wayward Children series by Seanan McGuire.
Shows - Centaurworld
Songs - Neon Pegasus by Parry Gripp, I Love Play Rehearsal from Be More Chill, Dress Like A Pirate by Madilyn Mei, Keep You Safe by The Crane Wives, The Milk Carton by Madilyn Mei, Wicked Girls by Seanan McGuire, Hitchcock by Yuroshika (I listen to the english cover by Rachie), Christmas Pageant by Amanda Fagan, Four by Sleeping At Last.
Might come back and add more to this one.
Favorite songs: *slams this playlist down on the table*
Instruments: I sing.
Aesthetic: Ideally something like…okay, picture me sitting on top of a huge pile of bloody corpses, in a chair that looks like the Thinking Chair from Blues Clues, seated sideways so my legs are dangling over the armrest and I’m swinging them, wearing deep periwinkle skinny jeans, sparkly Skechers sneakers, mismatched Trolls socks, a white button-up shirt with a pattern of tiny little axolotls on it, a bright purple-trimmed-in-yellow necktie, an unzipped rainbow hoodie, and a silver tiara full of star shapes, holding a shiny amethyst-purple mystical-looking magic staff in one hand and a wine glass of 2% milk in the other, with both a skull and a stuffed animal in my lap, a dragon sitting on one side of me on the bloody corpse pile and a unicorn on the other.
(i also have an aesthetic tag. you can scroll through some of that if you like.)
Favorite authors: Catherynne M. Valente, Roald Dahl, Dav Pilkey, Seanan McGuire, Trenton Lee Stewart, Neil Gaiman, and should I list my favorite picture book authors too ‘cause we’ll be here awhile longer I might have to come back and edit this--

Okay so uh I got tagged in a tagging game so guess I'm doing this shit now.
Nickname-Bobby, sometimes I jokingly go by RNJesus due to my initials and luck that flips back and forth like a metronome
Sign-Libra. I'm looking at the wikipedia page and I have no clue what 90% of this shit means.
Height-5'9.
Last Thing I Googled-Astrological signs because I forgot what corelated with what. I think they're stupid.
Amount of Sleep-Normal nights it's 10:30-7:30 so 9 hours. Nights where I don't have shit going on tomorrow I stay up till 11:30-anywhere between 9 and 12:45. So 13 hours hypothetically but this doesn't count the time it takes for me to fall asleep or when I wake up in the middle of the night randomly.
Dream Job: Don't have one. I'm studying to be a Computer Engineer though since that's what my father did.
Wearing-Sweat pants and a green jacket/hoodie. Sometimes I switch it out for a red one. Other than that, I just wear that every single day. It's become my iconic look at this point.
Movies/books/media that summarize you: I love soulsborne stuff. Not sure if it summarizes me but I'm not sure any media does.
Favorite Song: None. Like seriously, you gotta specify which genre, whether it can be game music or not, mainstream or indie youtube creators, etc. Aviators is one of my favorite indie creators though and I love the band "A Fall to Break"
Instrument-I played recorder once in 4th grade. I was semi good at it. Does this count? I do like singing and I like to think I'm pretty decent at it.
Aesthetic- Look at my posts dumbass(affectionate). Bloodborne's gothic horror isn't something that is easily beat.
Favorite Author- Jeffery Deaver and Micheal Conelly.
Random Fun Fact- I'm like one of 2 straight guys in my friend group, and the other is a british skin walker so does he really count as human?

The UK parliament’s Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Committee is working on its report (and recommendations) from its inquiry into the economics of music streaming. One of the big talking points during the inquiry’s evidence sessions was equitable remuneration (ER): specifically extending it from radio and TV to some streams.
The Broken Record campaign has made ER one of its key requests of the committee; labels have argued firmly against it; and (in our view, at least) the committee seems to be leaning more towards the former camp. But the committee isn’t the British government, so if ER is to be extended, ministers will need to be convinced too.
That campaign is already starting. A letter sent to Prime Minister Boris Johnson – and shown to Music Ally this morning – sees a who’s who of British musicians backing such an extension. Sir Paul McCartney, Annie Lennox, Chris Martin, Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, Kate Bush, Roger Daltrey, Damon Albarn, Noel Gallagher, Laura Marling, Sir Tim Rice… and many more.
“Only two words need to change in the 1988 Copyright, Designs and Patents Act. This will modernise the law so that today’s performers receive a share of revenues, just like they enjoy in radio,” argues the letter. But it also calls for a competition inquiry (or at least a government referral to watchdog the Competition and Markets Authority); for songwriters to get a bigger share of streaming royalties; and the establishment of a dedicated regulator “to ensure the lawful and fair treatment of music makers”.
Later today, we’ll publish our quarterly Music Ally report, including our analysis of the key talking points of the inquiry, and what might happen next. One of our suggestions was that while the DCMS committee seemed sympathetic to the Broken Record campaign’s arguments, the government ministers seemed to be leaning more towards labels’ view of the world.
The letter shows that the former group are going to work hard to change that, and in wheeling out the musical big guns, the intensity of the lobbying has stepped up several notches – even before the DCMS committee’s report has come out. Labels and their representative body the BPI must now decide how best to respond.
Here is the full text of the letter, and its signatories:
———-
Dear Prime Minister,
We write to you on behalf of today’s generation of artists, musicians and songwriters here in the UK.
For too long, streaming platforms, record labels and other internet giants have exploited performers and creators without rewarding them fairly. We must put the value of music back where it belongs – in the hands of music makers.
Streaming is quickly replacing radio as our main means of music communication. However, the law has not kept up with the pace of technological change and, as a result, performers and songwriters do not enjoy the same protections as they do in radio.
Today’s musicians receive very little income from their performances – most featured artists receive tiny fractions of a US cent per stream and session musicians receive nothing at all.
To remedy this, only two words need to change in the 1988 Copyright, Designs and Patents Act. This will modernise the law so that today’s performers receive a share of revenues, just like they enjoy in radio. It won’t cost the taxpayer a penny but will put more money in the pockets of UK taxpayers and raise revenues for public services like the NHS.
There is evidence of multinational corporations wielding extraordinary power and songwriters struggling as a result. An immediate government referral to the Competition and Markets Authority is the first step to address this. Songwriters earn 50% of radio revenues, but only 15% in streaming. We believe that in a truly free market the song will achieve greater value.
Ultimately though, we need a regulator to ensure the lawful and fair treatment of music makers. The UK has a proud history of protecting its producers, entrepreneurs and inventors. We believe British creators deserve the same protections as other industries whose work is devalued when exploited as a loss-leader.
By addressing these problems, we will make the UK the best place in the world to be a musician or a songwriter, allow recording studios and the UK session scene to thrive once again, strengthen our world leading cultural sector, allow the market for recorded music to flourish for listeners and creators, and unearth a new generation of talent.
We urge you to take these forward and ensure the music industry is part of your levelling-up agenda as we kickstart the post-Covid economic recovery.
Yours sincerely,
